Our safety promise
Tech support scams are everywhere, so we made the guide easy to trust. It will never:
- ask you to install remote-access or "support" software
- ask for your passwords or bank details
- give you a phone number to call about a virus
- ask you to pay for anything inside the guide
Chapter 1 even shows you how to find and remove remote-access programs someone else may have installed.

Questions
Do I need to download or install anything?
No. The guide is a web page that runs in your phone's or tablet's browser. You can add a shortcut to your home screen if you like, but you don't have to. A printable PDF is included too.
Will it work on my iPhone, iPad or Android?
Yes. It works in Safari, Chrome and other modern browsers on iPhone, iPad, Android phones and Android tablets. It's designed to be read on your phone while you fix the PC.
I'm not good with computers. Is it too technical?
It's written for beginners. Every step says exactly where to click, and words like "Start button", "taskbar" and "Task Manager" are explained with a picture when you tap them.
Is it safe to follow?
The fixes use tools built into Windows and steps from Microsoft's own support pages. Each chapter starts with the gentlest fix, and tells you when to stop and call a professional. Always back up your files first. Chapter 15 shows you how.
